Money 2020 is fast becoming the epicenter of innovative announcements for the payments and loyalty industries.
Yesterday, Amazon introduced a single sign-in solution where buyers can both login and pay on any participating site using their Amazon credentials. Login and Pay with Amazon enables online retailers to simplify the e-commerce buying experience for customers while also potentially highlighting their brand to millions of Amazon customers.
The video here provides a good overview of the new service and you can find a comprehensive review of “Login and Pay with Amazon” in this TechCrunch article. Gogo, the provider of inflight wifi services is a rollout partner and plans to incorporate the “one click” button later this year.
The TechCrunch article makes the excellent point that “the power of trust is a big one” when it comes to payments. Amazon has built trust with a broad set of consumers, “more than 215 million active customer accounts” according to statements made by Tom Taylor, Vice President, Amazon Payments in the company press release.
Soon, consumers may become accustomed to seeing their payment options online include Amazon along with major credit card brands and PayPal.
